Kawai Grand Pianos

Kawai RX3 Conservatory

The RX-3 Conservatory was specially developed for the needs at schools, conservatories and other institutions. The design and the sound richness of the RX-3 Conservatory are through our experience agreed to the practical instruction situations and surpass all expectations to an class and teaching instrument.

Soundboard of the special class

The Kawai wood technology uses all of senses ... seeing, smelling, feeling, to select the best woods. The soundboards of the K-series are finished of massive, very straight-grained spruce, that is very carefully selected, asymmetrical vaulted and scientifically tested, to fulfil Kawai's high demands to te resonance behavior and to the best sound.

Exclusive ABS Styran action components

The progressive use of ABS Styran in all our piano actions is one of the most important reasons, why Kawai instruments remain over long time so solid in touch and in sounding. Supported by the most important piano builder and by detailed scientific tests the reliability of ABS Styran is confirmed since over 30 years.

Exclusive "Black Jack"

This pivotal link between the key and the hammer is made of carbon and polyacetal. Its special material composition and its patented design makes Black Jack more sensitive and responsive than the traditional wooden jack.

Agraffes

Agraffes insure accuracy in string alignment, spacing and angles to produce greater uniformity of tone and consistent "speaking length" for each note.

Duplex scale

The duplex scale enhances harmonics in the treble range adding brilliance and richness to the piano's tone.

"Soft Fall" fallboard

Our ultra-slow, "Soft-Fall" fallboard closing system with dual-damping mechanism protects hands and the piano's finish from the harm that a jarring close might cause.

NEOTEXT Key Surfaces

Only Kawai has the synthetic key surface NEOTEX, that offers the smooth understated texture of natural ivory and ebony... and a semi-porous silica-filled surface to absorb the hand's natural oils and perspiration. It resists cracking and fading over years of use... and is static-resistant to prevent the build-up of unwanted dust. The result is a beautiful, long lasting key surface with exceptional playability.
